System: XP homeBrowser: FireFox

I am having issues with pages and pictures loading when typing in any url. Sometimes a few of the pictures load, sometimes none, but never all. Sometimes the page I type the address of will not load and I am greeted with a "not found on server" message, then I try again immediately and it goes through fine.

Any clues on where to go first? What to do first?

A couple of things could be happening. Have you done a recent speed test to check your connectivity to the web. Sometimes it will just time out and load the red x. Do you have your own internet or bum off an neighbor?

Also could be settings, if your not savvy with computers try to uninstall Firefox and reinstall and see if maybe that fixes the issue.

Another could be a virus, spyware of some sort. Although you say it happens sometimes and a virus would more than likely cause it to happen all the time.

It's not Firefox because it happens on Internet Explorer too.

It's not a spyware or virus because I have programs protecting my computer for both. I scan everyday for both as well, so I need another idea.

I remember someone telling me of a way to clean this particular file out or replace it with a new file or something... does anyone know what I am talking about?

Nah, I do that regularly anyway.

There is also supposed to be a file that you delete and you replace it with a fresh file. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Are you talking about the files in I386 folder. Why do you flush your DNS regularly?

Also see if your missing files go to run type "sfc /scannow" have your windows disc handy.

First question: I'm not sure, it could be. Something to do with web content and something builds up and replacing the file helps, I can't remember for the life of me.

Second question: Because we have wireless leechers on my home router and it kicks them off forcefully. I am not allowed to put security on the signal...

LOL I'll have to do it when I get home, as the computer giving me issues is about 700 miles away now.

No, because we still haven't found the file I was trying to find.
