I hate internet exploder simply due to its interface and obnoxious use of sounds. Without any real details on what the vulnerability specifically was, it's hard to say IE is particularly crappy due to this one incident. Other browsers have vulnerabilities, too.

Its kind of a silly thing, though. Its not like IE keeps you from going out and downloading Firefox or Chrome.

i use IE once every time i reformat a comp. I go to the mozilla site and download firefox. After instal i ignore ie like its the plague, cuz it is

That's true. I was more thinking about their anti-competitive practices when I wrote that (i.e. that whole thing with a browser called "Netscape"). The browser selection was stupid.

My grandmother doesn't know about browsers, all she knows is "the blue 'e' gets me to the internet". Shes 83. This won't change.

In Microsoft's defense, IE 8 is much smoother then previous IEs. But I have to agree with Rob here, Chrome runs flawless with all my heavy Flash sites. I basicly have a netbook with 4GBs of ram (Replace the Atom with Celeron from 02) and I almost use all the apps the big boys do (Photoshop, video editing. No CAD or gaming). I find it increasingly difficult to keep up with the Jone's when it comes to code heavy pages. Chrome allows me to run the toughest sites and keep up with the rest of the world without having to buy new software.
