Has anyone used an aftermarket internal wastegate on a stock turbo?

I know HKS makes an external wastegate for some applications, but not sure about the other guys.

I was wondering if this was a safer alternative to a manual boost controller, but I am not sure on the price.

I had even thought about getting one for the Laurel, but hadn't seen anyone here that has used one.

why complicate things with another internal wastegate actuator? just put on a boost controller and call it a day.

I love it when people don't read a complete post.

For one, I really don't know if the price of an aftermarket internal wastegate is a better value than an electronic boost controller. I know that those bad boys can get pretty pricey depending on what you want.

My resoning is because, with manual boost controllers, you have a greater tendency for boost spike, which can cause problems in some applications. With an aftermarket wastegate, you don't have that as in issue, but you can increase your boost within a few minutes of removing your stock wastegate and installing a new one.

This is more lined towards people who really can't afford an EBC.

i personally havent had any problems with my mbc. i did though with a ebc profec. confusing lil thing

but what turbo are you running? is it a stock rb turbo? cause u really dont wanna go high on those ones. i can see the SR guys getting them cause those turbos can run it.

but ive heard alot of people using xs mbc with no problem. me being one of them too

The adjustable actuator is a great value if you will never need to crank up the boost in anger and comes in about the same price as a MBC. It would suit you well. Crackheads like me who are always tweaking and fighting others need the on-the-fly adjustability when the physical setting comes up short in the heat of battle.

preciesly my point.

I don't plan on beating on the Laurel just yet. But when I do, a larger turbo and EBC will go in.

dont have one on my rb, but i have an adj wastegate on my srt (agp billet) i like it because it is consistant, but also, i dislike it because i dont have the adjustability from gear to gear (like apex avc-r) for me that would be a great advantage as with a fast spooling turbo and a lot of boost ( i run 22psi on a stock srt turbo) it makes first all but useless. no launch control. but like i said the consistancy is there. for me its 50/50. ill probably get a factory internal one and do an ebc just to have a little more fine control.
