internal or external?

i am lost on how this is setup. im trying to do a ka24et setup up and from what i have read i need a external waste gate for my power goals, but what my question is...is does anybody have a picture of what they both look like..and is it a mod that you do to any turbo or do you have to buy a turbo that is made for an external waste gate. im looking on using a t3/t04 turbo. i just have no idea how or where this stuff bolts up to

yes thank you...i was so confused...but another bunch of questions have come up...it is just vented into the engine bay? and do you have any pics of how the exhaust hooks to the turbo itself...cause i was looking at the back and the t3 has a wierd looking bolt pattern...is this a custom plate...please forgive so many questions i just want to make sure i do it right before i mess something up
