just wondering what you guys think. i am going with a t3 flange but i have a choice of going with an internal wga and an external. (regardless i am going to re route it back into the downpipe. i don't like external dumps. i know internals have more of an issue with boost creep and spikes. but i have never messed with an external. just wondering what the experts have to say about having one and their experiances

Well, the external allows you to change springs when needed, so you can "tune" it for higer boost levels, bigger turbos, etc. Plus, you already hit on the flow issues.

I would like an external for no other reason than to vent it. Screamers rule.

well the main reason i don't like external is for the simple fact that if you vent it like you say it is very very inefficient. i am all about efficiency. if you have that plumbed back into the exhaust then that would allow for more "pull" using the vaccumm affect from the manifold out the exhaust if the wga was in the down pipe at an angle depending on how far you put it down the pipe.. i think i may go external to just learn more about it i guess

Externals have better control and eliminate boost creep for the most part. A screamer pipe doesn't make the wastegate less efficient. If anything, it makes it more efficient. Regardless, you can get it plumbed back into your downpipe if you don't want to deal with the noise. Which I can assure is LOUD.

The only reason to need an external boost wastegate is so you can run low boost on a big turbo. If you plan on running high boost, it shouldnt' be a problem. But, as was stated before, external's tend to be less prone to boost creep as well.

If you're building from scratch, I'd plan on an external. I've heard problems arising from plumbing them back in, ESPECIALLY if it's plumbed back in at a 90* angle.

Being one to never put too much effort into anything, as simple is always best, why don't you vent it externally, but install a small muffler on the dump line so that it's quite. Best of both worlds...

yeah i have heard problems at a 90 angle also i was thinking more along the lines of a 30 degree angle. i will plan on doing external for sure but i will still plumb it back in for the sake of spoolability. and if it ever starts acting up i wil just cut it and weld a patch and do external.... not too worried about how loud it is, i just don't like flames underneath the car, they belong outside the car and more pluming to have it outside the car=more weight along with adding another muffler to the dump tube.
