Intermittent Wipers upgrade to base '04 Frontier

I have a rare base model Frontier... I guess they had to sell a few so that the XE package could legally be called an upgrade. Anyhow, my truck came without intermittent wipers. I did some research looking at the FSMs and found that Nissan changed the wiper switch in 2002 to one that integrated the wiper amplifier (delay circuit) into the stalk switch base. So I was able to buy a switch set out of an '03 Xterra from a junk yard I found on http://www.car-part.com for $40 shipped. The swap was literally a 10 minute plug-n-play process! I also got the light stalk with the fog lamp switch that I'll install later when I buy some fogs to add.

Just thought I would share this in case anyone else has a base truck with the cheap-o wiper setup and wants to upgrade.

Note - pre 2002 Frontiers appear to have a separate wiper amplifier - which would make this upgrade a little more complicated.

Would love this upgrade on my '98, but it rains here so rarely....

I did upgrade to electric mirrors on mine though. The nice part was that all the wiring was there to do it.

Sounds nice! I want to add power locks to mine at some point, and having the wiring already there would make that a lot easier. Wonder if those wires are there on an '04?
