Hi, I have a 89 S13. I am having a problem with my windshield wipers. I have the following issues.1. When I switch them into intermittent mode, they do nothing.2. when I have them switched in the off postion, then use my washer fluid, the windshield wipers do not automatically initiate like they should.

Its not the ECU timer or w.e.

On a side note, I am unable to locate a replacement bulb for the ashtray light (the little tiny one with a blue rubber coating on it). Can someone tell me what bulb # this is.

Have you checked the windshield wiper amp?

I assume the wipers work on any other setting? Sounds like the tcu isn't getting full power. Check all the fuses in the driver side kick panel. The one you need to check isn't labeled and I don't know which one it is, so check them all. If the fuses are ok, it's possible the tcu is bad but that's pretty rare.

checked fuses and they seemed all right. I see there are 20 fuse locations. Could someone tell me which one could be the culprate (becuase about 3 of them have no fuse in them). ALSO, does anyone know anything about that light in my ashtray?

There are supposed to be some blank fuse sockets. Check the diagram on the inside of the fuse panel cover. I don't recall which fuse it is, but I'll check if I remember.

I'm not sure about the lightbulb either. Take yours in to the store with you if you have it. Grab one from a junk yard if you don't.

I know this post is a bit old but i recently had the same problem and found the solution. THe regular wipers are on thier own fuse but the intermittant (god knows why) is on the red 10A fuse labeled "radio" on the left side just below the empty one. Somewhere on that circuit or the fuse itself is your problem.

It's not that they have their own fuse. It's that the TCU has a fuse, and the timing of the intermittent wipers (along with a good many other things) is controlled by the TCU. (Timing Control Unit)
