To start off its a 1994 300zx N/A 180k miles. Ive had the car for about 2 months now. I dont know if its always done it, or just started since i usually have my radio on a bit high. Just noticed the noise about 2 weeks ago :chuckle: But when I open the throttle (in any gear including neutral) it gets a bit louder and higher pitched as the revs go up. ive changed the oil on my car and the belts for the power steering pump and alternator. dont think those are the problem tho. Heres a video of the sound. Im going to try and isolate the sound this weekend, but was just wondering if anyone knows what this problem is/could be off the top of their head

did you change the motor oil or transmission fluid? I would flush the transmission and put either some NEO 75w90 HD from SPL or Redline MT-90 gear oil. Im assuming you have a 5 speed btw.

forgot to add that. yes its a 5 speed and i changed the motor oil. why would that be the transmission if the noise persists even with the clutch in? i do need to flush my transmission anyway tho

The "whine" is the fan. It's fine. What I heard that was disconcerting to me was the insane lifter tick when you revved it harder. That's what I would be addressing. Try some marvel mystery oil or something to cure that.

Also, tech forum for tech posts. Thanks.
