intermittent start problems 05 Sentra 1.8 auto

My daughter's 05 is having intermittent problems with starting (slow crank or clicking).. As soon as the battery is jumped the car starts right up. I measure about 14.1 volts on the battery with the car running, there are no warning lights. The terminals are clean, and I even replaced the negative cable which looked corroded inside the crimp connection at the battery. Battery is less than 2 yrs old, but this seems like a battery issue. Is that voltage reading good to prove the alternator is functioning normally? I may take the car to Autozone where the battery was purchased, but I am not sure what they will say. Is there something I am missing?

The battery should read good if the car is running and alternator is working properly. Sounds like there aren't enough cold cranking amps and time for a battery replacement. Take it by and auto parts store and have them check.

14 volts coming off the alternator is within spec. If i remember right its 11-14v or somewhere in there. If it was the alternator you'd notice the car slowly die. If you bring it up to Autozone they'll be able to test the cold cranking amps of the battery. Sometimes the lead plates inside can separate and cause the condition too.
