Here is an issue I'm having trouble diagnosing. Car stalls at idle intermittently. Starts back up with ease. This happens when the engine is cold. When the engine is warm, it misses or stumbles while accelerating b/w 1K and 3K rpm...but it does not stall. Stalling only occurs at cold idle.
Engine power is fine when it is running, so I don't think it is a fuel delivery issue. The fuel pump is brand new. It is making a slight clicking noise. Will check the pressure soon. FPCU checked out fine. Some more info:
-Spark Plugs replaced only 5K miles ago
-New battery
-The valve cover over the alternator is leaking...and oil is slowly leaking onto the alternator...not sure if this would cause intermittent stalling at idle. Idle voltage is 13.8V, so it seems like the alternator is charging. But, the stalling doesn't happen when the engine warms up...so my theory is that the oil on the alternator burns off when the engine warms up. After a long freeway run, the idle charge voltage goes up to 14.2V. Could an intermittent alternator issue cause a stall? Probably not, right?
-Had the car jumped with a jumper battery, since it sat for 1 month and the battery died. Alternator had to work with a totally dead battery for a few days of driving...not sure if that could be a cause of issues. Bought a new battery after this.
-IAC was cleaned a year ago...will try that again.
-EGR cleaned
-MAF connection checked out fine.
I'm stumped. Any ideas? 1994 Q45. Thanks.
