Intermittent Problem

Friend has 2000 model Maxima which intermittently @ 50kph with A/C on it does not accelerate but revs to 5000 rpm Code P0720 Output Speed Sensor is logged each time this happens, any help would be great

P0720 would be a bad Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS).

Yep got that bit so why is it causing the no acceleration problem and actually appears to drop into neutral?
