This is on our 2018 Rogue SV. Usually my Mrs. Altair drives this vehicle. While out getting gasoline for her, I noticed that the predictive lines on the in-dash monitor were missing when I backed up. The next time I reversed, they were there. I'd guess they're missing 75% of the time. I confirmed in the settings that the option to have them appear is checked. The shop manual here leads me to believe that the sensor for this is the steering angle sensor behind the steering wheel. Not sure that I want to mess with that with the airbag. Anyone else have this issue? I kinda like have the predictive lines.

I have done a search on the boards here but I haven't found any threads on the topic. Thanks!

You'd be getting an ABS lamp if the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) was going offline, it talks constantly to the ABS C/U and any absence would be flagged immediately. In the Rogues without Around View (AVM), the predictive lines are generated inside the AV head unit. Most of the "disappearing lines" problems we see are from the head unit software going off in the weeds. Disconnecting the battery for about 10 seconds to force a cold reboot will usually put them back on the straight and narrow. It's also possible your AV software is buggy. If the R1911 recall was never performed, you probably have a buggy software version and should get it done.

PS - You can check the software version yourself. On the touchscreen go to Info -> System Information -> Software Version. It should be 810 or higher if it's current, any lower number means the recall was never done.

Should the recall & SW update be free,
or at least if I claim that I have 'problems' with the headunit ?

The recall, yes. All recalls are free, bulletins aren't if you're past warranty. To my knowledge R1911 applied to all '18 Rogues, but you can check by calling the dealer with your VIN. They can run a DBS and it will show any outstanding recalls.

Then if my 2018 Rogue SL reports

H/U Software:0154

I should be able to get the recall done for free ! ?

Is the update thing something that an owner can do themselves? I saw the "Update" option in the information system menu.

If you have OTA update, yes. Connect the car to your home WiFi and do an update check, or just turn on automatic updates and the car will do it while parked. When you go to the Connections page, if you don't have a tab for WiFi then you don't have OTA and the update needs to be done with a USB drive. To my knowledge, none of the Rogue thumbs past '17 are available as pirateware on the net, so it means a dealer visit.

VStar - Okay, I have the WIFI tab. I'm thinking of running this through my home WIFI as I have version 149 (or close to that).
Couple questions -
Do we have any idea how this takes, realizing that it's dependent on connection speeds? Does the car need to be running, or just with the ignition on?

This should answer most questions about OTA:
