I have a 93 Maxima SE 5speed with the 3000 V6. Every once and a while after a stop i will shift from 1st to 2nd and my engine will lose power i can floor it but nothing happens. i have to slow almost to a complete stop before anything will engage again.. does anyone know what might possibly wrong?

It could be the coil packs. When one or more are faulty, often times it "jams" the whole ignition system for a second. I had one bad one in the back row. The tach would drop to zero for a split second and when I stomped on the gas, about half the time it would conk out. I could get it to go again really easy. I tested them out and they tested fine, but a Nissan tech told me that it could be failing "under load" meaning when I accelerate. I bought a set of 6 good coil packs from a wrecked car and it went away.

Wow a coil did that? I was gonna say crank posistion sensor. Any check engine light?

It's a fairly common problem with the 92-94 SE (VE30DE engine). It's often referred to as engine "bucking" or "stalling." However, there are some other potential things that can cause similar symptoms. The CPS is one, the ignitor is another. It definitely sounds like something ignition related.

These cars are OBD 1. They rarely have CELs. I have owned two of them going back to 1995 and I have only had ONE check engine light, for a coolant temp sensor. It was so obvious that it was bad, I didn't need the CEL.

I should also mention that I have some spare parts. No coil packs right now, but I think I have a spare CPS and ignitor from a parts car I picked up this summer.

My 1st suspect would be a sensor. Probably giving a s*** reading to the ECU. Check O2 sensors, throttle and air flow sensors, coolant temp sensors etc

But, the usual suspects would be clogged fuel injectors or filter but since it's no OBD-II, it's a crap shoot.
