Intermittent I30 Steering wheel radio controls

The steering wheel audio controls on my 2001 I-30 are intermittent. All the buttons either work, or all the buttons dont work. About 50% of the time everything is ok, but the other 50% none of the buttons work at all, but the controls on the radio work fine. Any ideas?Thanks.

This seems to happen to all of them unfortunately. Cleaning the electrical contacts may help.

Thanks for your reply. When you mention "clean contacts" which contacts are you referring to? (Seems unlikely that all 5 separate switches on the steering wheel control would have dirty (intermittent) contacts at the same time, so I guess you mean some other contacts that affect all 5 switches simultaneously) Please clarify. Also, you mention "this seems to happen to all of them" - so I guess you have seen this many times in the past. How exactly was it corrected?

2001 i30 with same problem, plus the knob on the radio works intermittently as well.I just purchased this vehicle, and got the Infiniti service history on the car, and noticed the radio has been replaced 4 times under warranty for the same problem since 2001. I guess it really is a matter of time if you own an i30.
