Wondering if anyone could take any educated guesses where I should be looking... 90Q, relatively well taken care of, 160K miles. The last few weeks while driving home from work the car has just totally died on me several times--the engine just shuts off, everything on the cluster goes to zero, power steering goes out, everything. BUT... I can just slip it into neutral and try to crank the car and it will start right back up, then I slip it into drive and other than that momentary dying, everything is fine. I've had it happen as much as 6 times on a 30 minute drive home but still managed to make it home. Checked the alternator and the battery, both are good. A local mechanic said he'd see if he could chase down anything--thought it might be camshaft position sensor or something similar, he would check the codes, but the car has not thrown a check engine light as of yet. Any suggestions or guesses as what might be going on would be welcome, and thanks!

I looked online and it was suggested to look at Mass Airflow - check Google out - it seems a few items for critique - Mass Airflow and Fuel Pump - Let us know how you are doing - thx

Yep, it was the MAF--or rather the MAF wiring. Both at the connector and at the ground the wire was starting to deteriorate to the point that it would lose continuity every now and then. Running like a champ again. Thanks HansCC.

Cool - what would we do without Google - :)
160k is getting up there - so the first gen has that issue with the plastic guides on the timing belt issue - and you made it past that 110k mark - nice. Been looking locally for 2nd Q - hard to find the 1st gen with anything but 150k on them now...
and not many left here in South Florida - very rare to see one on the road now
