My climate control blower works intermittently (very infrequently). It stopped working after a track day and hasn't worked for the last 3 months. However, last night I took out the glove compartment and disconnected/reconnected all the plugs to make sure they were secure. I also checked the blower resisters and they look fine.

The next time I started the car the blower worked on all 4 settings for about 30 seconds and then wouldn't come back on. On my next two drives (2 miles each) the blowers didn't work at all. On the 4th drive after securing the plugs, the blowers worked again but only for a very short period of time. I thought that the blower stopped working when I hit a crack in the road.

Then this morning (the 5th time) I turned on the car to let it warm up. The blowers worked when I turned the car on, but when I came back to the car after about 10 minutes, they were off. Since the car didn't move, it made me think that it is not just a loose wire.

Does anyone have any idea why my blowers would work intermittently for 30 second intervals on random drives? And if it is somehow a loose wire/connection, which ones should I check?

Thanks.

Just confirmed that it is a loose wire when I had my girlfriend slam the passanger door. Are there any additional connections/wires to check besides the ones behind the glove box? I'm studying for finals right now so I haven't had a chance to mess with the connections.

Took a break in finals to check the connections behind the glove box. I fiddled with the 5 connections I saw and it didn't help at all.

The 5 plugs I saw behind the glove box are:-2 large rectangular connections on the very right side-1 connection to the blower fan-1 connection to the blower resisters-1 connection on the left side to unknown plug.

The only way I can get the blower to come on for short intervals is by slamming the passanger door and it works randomly. Any other wires/connections that I should check that aren't behind the glove box?

Can someone please give me an idea of where to look? I'm going on a 700 mile trip this weekend and I don't want my girlfriend to freeze over the mountain passes.

Thanks.

Check to see if the blower motor is losing power. Slamming the door may be just jarring the motor sufficiently to get it going.

If you don't have power, then start backtracking.

The thing is, the blower has worked a couple times when I first started up the car (ie, not immediately after slamming the door). However, it never stays on for more than 30 seconds so your idea sounds like a possibility. How do I check if the blower has power (I don't have any electrical equipment)?

Thanks.
