I've seen both, and am torn on which way to go. I like the idea of wood, which is elegant and more professional looking. I'll have clients in the car from time to time, so that's a consideration. But the wood interior looks kind of plasticy to me. The aluminum is more sporty, and I like the look of it too. It's just hard to decide.

Anyone else have thoughts on wood vs. aluminum? Do you think the wood will grow on me?

What year are we talking about? I am not a fan of wood interior.. However the new redisigned one look better. Also the alu finish looks good too. They are darker than the previous years.

At the end it only matters to you. Buy what you like. The clients would be fine with both. They will be thrilled with the power anyways.

I prefer the wood trim to the aluminum just b/c it is a classier look. I wish I had the wood trim in my car, as the silver just looks cold....

In the interior section I made a wood trim guide if you want to swap out.http://forums.g35club.org/zerothread?id=454980to the op, The wood trim is 1/8 inch thin wood glued over plastic, and coated with more plastic, so it doesn't get destroyed by naturally occuring wood destroying things... I dont know.

First - the car is for you not the clients.Second - IMO it's more a sports sedan than a luxury sedan so it should have a sporty interior. I prefer the aluminum. Interior color should have some bearing on your choice.

I used to despise wood trim. As I grow older, however, it has been growing on me for some cars. For example, it looks great in my wife's Lexus. I saw it in the G and thought it did a great job of balancing out the sporty exterior and overall fun dynamics with a classy and elegant look inside. That being said, I dedided that I'm still not old enough for the wood and I went with the sportier looking aluminum. I should be in my 40's when I buy my next new car so I'll revisit this debate again then.

I hate the look of wood trim in Infinitis. I have to agree with RPM G35x and say that the Aluminum looks better with the G. It's a sporty ride and wood isn't sporty. It looks tacky with wood.

My $0.02.

I just switched all my wood grain trim for aluminum. I prefer the wood grain, but if you plan on having clients in the car who will jump in and out without a care for their zippers and such I'd go with the wood grain. It has a better finish on it and will also hide the scratches better. Just my 2 cents.

I'm getting a 6MT, which only comes in aluminum (I guess you can switch it out later). I think aluminum matches the sportiness of the car.

Maybe for the "less sporty" Journey or X wood would be cool. I don't know - seems like you'd save the wood trim for more of a luxury ride, like a Buick or Lexus. Isn't the aluminum supposed to look like Japanese rice paper or something?

Not so fast.

May I draw your attention to the mid-80's Dodge Caravan with simulated wood side paneling... It's pretty sharp, my friend.

Is that the sport package?

I'm looking at black and black....and both the wood and the aluminum look good...it's just hard to decide. If the wood holds up better, that's a consideration. Thanks for the input guys.

Good guess, yes it is. It included the paneling, spoke wheel covers, and whitewall tires. I believe it also had an available navigation package which basically just consisted of a dash-mounted compass and a map in the glovebox.
