I have the 09SL sedan (CVT) with wood trim. I want to remove the silver plastic at the base of the shifter and cover the entire base with wood. Something like this:

I have checked the aftermarket wood trim kits and none of them replaces the silver plastic at the shifter base. They come out like this:

Are any of you aware of a kit that will cover the entire shifter base (similar to the Lexus look)?

nope, you'd need to send them off to a place like the one Brian mentioned a long time ago that does custom pattern overlay coats on objects like interior trims.

There's a guy on car domain that did it I think but like mchedd said it would be all custom. Check out his setup, it's the only White alti on the first page the last time I checked.

You can buy an interior trim paint that looks like wood when it dries. I can't find the pics but there are some in the Q45 forum and they turned out really well.

Could not find the thread you are talking about in the Q45 forum.

But found this: http://www.ehow.com/how_446355....html

It seems to be the work of an artist to be able to paint and match the wood color and style with that of the OEM fake wood.

I was thinking of buying the OEM wood cover for the storage just below the dash and cut it to fit the shifter base. Just need to check that the cover is large enough to cover the entire base. What do you guys think?

I have cut wood but have no experience cutting plastic, so that will be my biggest challenge.
