interior vinyl dye or paint

just bought me a qx4 steering wheel but it's in black for my 1997 q45. i got a quote from an upholstery shop for $45 to redye it to the stock dark grey.

Would it be better if I just bought the paint or dye and apply it myself? I'm thinking of redoing my air bag as well since it looks like its fading a bit.

anybody know where i can find a spray and how would it withstand against sun and daily driving? any particular brands to look out for and whats the nissan grey trim code?

I thought Jesda posted up a solution for seats, not sure how well it would work on a steering wheel though.
