so some of the parts inside my 240( ie the center console and shift booth) have slowly broken down and become useless to me so i am preparing to redo them does anyone know where i could oder a nice shift booth? i also have a roll of carbon fiber and i was thinking about making one of my own if nothing else. and as for the console what paints should i go with?

If you're ok with sewing you can make your own shift boot. Or take it somewhere so you can have the fabric of your choice. There's also places that sell shift boots.

As far as the console, what I did was take the radio trim bezel and the finish similar on the console, wet sanded them with 1000 grit, and then painted them. I didn't prime because the paint I used didn't need it.

Here's the paint:

Here's how it looks:

It came out decent I guess.

Well, if it doesn't say that primer is not required, I would prime it. Otherwise, it's no big deal. I would look for something kinda tough so it wears well.

Idk. I don't see why it wouldn't unless the stitches are weak. Just make sure with any material you use, that it's pretty pliable and not stiff.

carbon fiber isn't really a fabric that I would use for something like a shift boot. It is designed to be formed and cooked into a rigid piece. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try since you are baller enough to own a roll of carbon fiber. Isn't that stuff really expensive?

No, you can get it at your local PepBoys or Vatozone.

OP, I hope you know it's not REAL carbon fiber.

When you say "carbon fiber", what exactly do you mean? People use that term really loosely these days. If it's true carbon cloth then that would be a disaster. If it's fake carbon vinyl type material, then that would be great to use.

Redline Goods makes shift boots, they're a sponsor. Anything you want, amazing quality.

If you want a carbon fiber style I would go yashio factory. I picked up the knob and shift boot for my s14 for a little under 150 shipped by japanese EMS from rhdjapan and JDMoption I believe.

Dude, if it's raw carbon fiber cloth then you CAN NOT use it the way you want to. It HAS to be impregnated with resin. In raw cloth form it will just fall apart. When I lay carbon cloth to make solid carbon sheets, I have to be really careful to not snag a strand etc.

If you want the carbon "look" then you need the vinyl that Champaign posted. I have a box of it sitting on my toolbox to recover a customers wood grain trim in a BMW. It's super easy to work with.
