there is nothing that can be done. its just the quality of the material that was used.sniper27 wrote:any way to prevent this from happening? hate to get a new steering wheel after warranty is over.
yes that was the first answer i got from my dealer. i mean my dealer experiences has been probably the worst ever with everything that i went through with my infinit ownership heretimmy0257 wrote:i called Prestige Infiniti here in Tallahassee area and they seem reluctant to want to replace anything. i am taking it in Friday for the to look at it. I have no peeling in the back because that area of the vehicle is never touched. my steering wheel its decent, but I would love a new one. My driver and passenger front door panels are what is worst.
anything I can do to persuade them to replace? i would think that replacing everything at once would most efficient for them.
i have that issue on my 08 as well. its not too bad, but still looks gaudy. i can only see it when the wheel is turned.audtatious wrote:The only trim issue I have is missing paint near the stereo buttons (steering wheel controls) on the wife's '07 and you only see it if the wheel is turned. Everything else seems to be holding up.

She said that they are switching parts vendors now and there is a freeze on ordering these particular parts. she said she will call me in July to reschedule the replacement.
Does this sound strange or do these vendor transitions happen from time to time?
this is the only Infiniti dealer within 100 miles. Im in rural North Florida. =(
As a result of my career I am pretty thorough. I asked her a hypothetical question, such as if my mileage has exceeded warranty coverage by the time she can do the replacement, what will happen. She said that she notated my mileage at the time of this visit and it will be covered. I told her I will be calling her July to follow up. I do have 29k left on warranty coverage.TheOriginal wrote:Timmy,timmy0257 wrote:went to Prestige Infiniti today. How close are you to your warranty running out. I believe it's 4 yrs/60,000miles. If she looked at your mileage and asked you to come back in July, she is either hoping that your warranty expires before then, or she believes that you should have enough miles left to cover it. . .make a decision based off of that.
You guys are lucky. . .I've been told that the claim was denied when they submitted it to Infiniti. They said they don't make the decision themselves. So I kindly asked for the number to Infiniti and they emailed me the information today, so I will be giving a call in the morning. This is such BS.timmy0257 wrote:i just wanted to update you folks on the warranty work i am having done. since the dealership was in between vendors, when i visited them in May, they asked that I check with them July1 because they should have their transition completed. When I called in July, they asked to check back in Aug. Well i just got off the phone with them and they said that they just got authorization to replace my steering wheel as well as my door panel trim (both are affected by the peeling). They will call me when the parts arrive and we will schedule a time to replace from there. I will let you know the outcome when everything is complete. thanks for the advice(s).
You'd better believe that I am. I'm sitting here reading Consumer Affairs nightmares from other Infiniti owners and I can only hope and fight like hell, that I don't get treated the same. If I would have known, I would have bough another BMW.audtatious wrote:Yeah, raise hell with them.
I called Infiniti Consumer Affairs and told them what my issue was. They said they would call a Regional Manager in the area and have him/her further investigate. A couple of days later, someone from the Consumer Affairs called me and told me that the person was on vacation and would be back next week (which is this week now) and that I would hear from them by the end of the business day. . .Wedneday. So I guess I SHOULD be expecting a callback today. Something tells me that they are going to try to deny me again. . .timmy0257 wrote:have you tried another dealer? I am glad mine did it first try because the next closest dealer is over 100 miles away.
yes the steering wheel that was put on looks like the same as the '10 models.dbcooper wrote:This seems to be a chronic problem with the 'rubberized' coating on Infiniti steering wheels. Both the '05 M35 and '07 G35 I leased had wear near the audio volume rocker on the steering wheel by the time I turned them in. It's a nice coating, but not durable. The 2010 I have now has a different steering wheel finish, feels a little cheaper, but probably doesn't rub off.
