Has anyone found a suitable product or service that can repair the interior door panels, particularly the drivers door?

I have the tan/beige interior and a 1/2 dollar size area where the faux leather has peeled away and I would like to repair it.

If you can find 94 Q door panels those are much better, they used a better material in the 94s vs 95 and 96. You'll never see a worn door panel in a 90-94 like that, but all common in 95-96Q, Y33, and J30s (JPY32s)

Well I tried Lexol on my door panels and they are still hard and from what I have read:

The leather on the Q45 has a special clear coat almost that prevents nearly anything from soaking into the leather so leather repair is made harder due to the layer that's lies on top of the leather.

But if I am wrong then please correct me.

But is there anything that's fixed hardening of the leather?

My back door panels are harden to the point where it looks somewhat bad and my front ones are starting to harden up.

Sorry to thread jack.

Paul the door panels are not leather, it is a vinyl sprayed on a backing material.

I found a company that can repair http://www.fibrenew.com/ . They quoted $125 to repair the upper portion of the door.

I will report back with the results.

The top of the door panels including the armrest and hand-gripe on both of my 1995's (build date 7/94) is definitely leather. My 1990 is leather as well but of a thicker grade. Apparently the 1996's were vinyl. You can easily check this yourself by putting a screw driver between the hand-gripe and armrest and sliding it off. Then you can easily see and smell the back of the leather. I've had some success with Leatherique rejuvenator oil but it's best just not to let it get wet and dry out in the sun.

Well in my opinion I would just replace whats bad whether door panel or seat, because its easier to find a used seat clean it and throw it in than recondition the current stuff.

Armrest and handle on 96Q is genuine leather......upper door panel on ALL 90-96 q is vinyl, not genuine leather.

1990-1994 are confirmed leather I saw the back of the door panel and it looks like they pulled the cows skin over the door panel (stretched it if you will).

But doesn't mean you can't put 1994 door panels on your 1996 and bring the value up a little.

If I could find a clean set for a '90-93 I would get them because it appears to be a good quality leather whereas the '95's doesn't hold up too well and I'm not sure it's worth the trouble. If not for the heated seats and extra seat controls, I'd probably swap out the '95's with some of the earlier type which are much more supportive and comfortable. On the other hand I haven't checked with a good shop to see what they would charge to redo them.

I did try redying the seats on one my 1995's before I sold it. Looked ok but not sure how durable.

I believe in a way to save money Nissan/Infiniti made the door panels and there opening and such the same though out the G50 run so basically you can put a 1990-1993* interior in your 1994-1996 Q45 and vice versa.

And as for the 1994-1996 seats you might be able to add the heated seats and power head rest but it will take some work but can be done.

But you will have to use the back seat from a 1990-1993 because they are from a different design.

*the late 1993's had the 1994 interior style colors.

In my opinion though the 1994-1996 interiors are better but the 1990-1993 interiors are better matched.

Paul is right on this one... and I can confirm that the '90 door panels are absolutely leather. I have seen the "fuzzy" leather look on the backing. The rectangular interior color-matched pad on the glove compartment is even leather...

Here is the before and after pictures for the Fibrenew process. It is not 100% but it is much better that before. The cost was $125.00 and approximately 1 1/2 hours. The real trick to doing this is matching the color which the Tech did flawlessly.

They repair leather using a different process. Fibrenew is a franchise so there should be someone in your area that can do this for you.
