Hey all, i have a 2004 G35 sedan..and i figured out it'd be pretty easy to get to my radio (since im buying a new radio) i have the non-bose system and its time to upgrade. But, i notice that the peice before the one that holds the radio with the 2 vents just pops out, but my only question is, how do i go about removing the shifter knob ( i have automatic ) im not really sure and i dont want to try to rip it to break it, i see that the bottom of it just slides out then what can i do? help is appreciated thanks in advance.

You really need a FSM. Factory service manual. Till then SEARCH is your friend.

I belive the car should be in neutral (block ur wheels and e-brake car first ) - in order to remove the tunnel cover. There should be a small little trim piece at the very bottom of the shift knob. Slide this piece down to reveal a metal clip/spring - remove the clip slide the knob off.

After you slide down the silver piece on the bottom, there should be a small metal clip that you can get a flat head screw driver under at the front of the knob. Just make sure to hold your hand in front to block the clip as it comes off or it could go flying.

In case you didn't know, theres a lot more to taking off the radio section than just removing the tunnel cover. You basically have to start at the kick panels and work inwards, plus remove the clock section for another screw holding it in there as well.
