interior on 2008 peeling

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

i have an 2008 EX35 and the plastic around the steering wheel buttons is peeling to a different color. i don't think this would be a warranty issue. has anyone else had this problem?
thanks

Me too. Its frustrating but seriously doubt warranty would cover this -- age related issue

This is a common occurance on the 2007-2009 G Sedans and coupes...and it's the same steering wheel. If you are still under warranty they should replace it. If out of warranty - you can buy the houseing alone on Ebay.

It happened on my 08 as well, and is VERY common. It was obviously some interior decorators (or out of work engineers..LOL)idea to put that on the steering wheel, where finger nails and rings come in contact with it every day. Kind of like the nice shiny metal on the shifter..rrrrr. Many manufactures used that rubber coat. My BMW X5 has the same issue, as does just about every X5. They even used it around the window controls...DING DONGS. If it's still under warranty, I'd ask to have it replaced, and know that they are WELL aware of the issue. Just keep in mind...This late in the warranty, depending on the miles, they may tag it as a wear issue.

Well I solved the shiny metal on the shifter problem by putting on a bad-a$s M37 leather knob with stitching that matches the infiniti logo on our seats. LOVE love LOVE it.

My steering wheel has a handfull of little scratches and chips too. HATE that, specially in the sunlight. I was thinking about the new housing on ebay too, OR covering it with a carbon-fiber wrap. I don't want to rice it up at all, but this might look very nice. Maybe the steering wheel and the aluminum trim around the shifter...or not. Some of the high-end Mercedes & BMW have some carbon fiber trim, so at least they didn't think it looked cheap!

Something like this:

Found an example of what I wanted to do...and more. I wouldn't want as much as he did at all...

not a big fan of the extra padding on his wheel - but it is exactly what I had in mind as far as the carbon fiber wrap goes.
