I tried to find some pictures of the inside of a 25 oil pan. How high from the bottom of the pan is the pickup placed? Mine is dented pretty bad (pushed up maybe an inch and a half in the center), so im not sure if i should just snag a new one now and save myself from oil starvation.

Thanks

Best way to tell is take it off and bang it out. If you want to see the clearance for yourself, place a piece a putty at where the center of the pickup would be and install the pan with the 4 corner bolts and then remove to inspect the putty.

I have a moderately dented pan sitting in my shop that I can take a pic of for you if that'll help...

You're in luck, I had these pics laying around in my picasa.. The crushed pan is my stock rb20 pan the new pan is for a 25..

Just take your pan off and bang it out and reinstall it.. Or spring the $150 or whatever for a new pan it's up to you.

Thanks Mello, that really helps. I think mine should be alright until the winter teardown. This is highly doubtful but does anyone know what the clearance is for the oil pickup from the bottom of the pan?

Well if I can get another angle grinder I'll cut off the bottom of a spare pan and bolt it to the bottom of a block so we can actually see how low in relation the pickup is to the bottom of the pan
