OK I thought the problem was confined to the dome light but now my radio and TCS switch lights have burned out.

What I did was added 1990-1993 vent lights and I added them with this thing called (Add a circuit) and I added a 10 AMP fuse to it for the vent lights because that's the only one I had on hand at the time.

The bulbs used are 12 Volt but the watts are unknown.

What are the watts and volts for the OEM bulbs?

But is the fuse to big therefore causing the lights to burn out?

What could possibly be the problem here?

I am confused, if your car is a 1993, shouldnt it have come from the factory with " 90-93 vent lights" ?

Sorry mine is a late 1993, early 1993's come with them.

But it should be 1990-1993*

*Early 1993's

But I do believe that all G50's have the room for the bulbs they just need the bulbs and harness.

Any wire splicing other than the one you mentioned? Do 3 or 4 LED's really need an additional fuse if the 90-early93 use just one fuse in the illumination circuit? Disconnect the wires you spliced for a few days and see if the burning of fuses stops.

Use your volt meter to check voltage while engine is turning 2000-2500RPM- if your alternator is putting out too much voltage, bulbs burn out very quickly! Fuse size has nothing to do with your current problem.

I used this: http://www.parts-express.com/p...1-580 And I connected that to the harness on the vent lights.

I will check for an over charge.

Well, you can rule out over-charging. Maybe just cheap chinese bulbs?

Never any previous mention on any of the previous 4 Infiniti boards of early and late differences in 1993 MY production run. After all, it was so short.

Well maybe they stopped the lights in 1992 but if "Unknown" wanted he could confirm because he has taken off he instrument panel.

But is the battery voltage normal or low?

I will measure the dome light tomorrow because only one seems to blow out and its always the one on the left. But the one light on the radio and the TCS light blowing out is quite the coincidence.

Both of my '94's have the mounting points, just no light/socket/harness.

Thanks for confirming that 1994+ can have those lights.

I wonder why they stopped them, they only save 10 cents a car which isn't worth it to me.

Whats the advantage to having them? How often do you really adjust the vent? I have never had an issue, or thought,"these need to be lit at night to find".....now they could have lit the cruise control buttons on the wheel

Well they just add some more light to the cabin, making it a "warmer" interior.

Its the little things that make the car nice.

If the designers asked for my input for interior additional lighting, here is what I would have liked to see:

1. light the cruise control switches on wheel2. light the maplamp switches3. light the recesses behind the lock and door open lever in both doorpanels4. light the inside center console storage box front and rear5.underhood lamp6.light the tilt/telescope control wand7.light the hood release and brake release levers8. Most importantly, add rear fog lamps. would choose at the expense of forgoing ALL the above.

1. Light the cruise control switches on wheel: hard to do for us

2. Light the maplamp switches: hard to do.

3. Light the recesses behind the lock and door open lever in both door panels: Doable

4. Light the inside center console storage box front and rear: Doable

5.Under hood lamp: easy

6.Light the tilt/telescope control wand: hard to do

7.Light the hood release and brake release levers: Doable

8. Most importantly, add rear fog lamps. would choose at the expense of forgoing ALL the above.: Like a 1995 Pontiac grand am (Not my style)

Does it make a difference if the vent lights were grounded to the radio?

The problem that cause the dome lights among many other interior lights to burn out was how I wired up the vent lights. Never use add a circuit to add lights!
