First time poster. So I noticed one night that my interior light and vanity mirror lights don't come on on my '03 G35 coupe. So I check fuses and bulbs and they are both OK. Then I read on the forum to remove the negative battery cable for 5 minutes then reconnect. That does the trick. Thanks! Then the next day or two, my wife calls me and says the G won't turn over. It finally does after about seven tries. Now the Check Engine Soon light comes on steady sometimes and sometimes not. When I have started a couple times it does hesitate ever so slightly and idles just a little bit rough when I first start it up. From researching the forum sounds like I need to take it in and have them scan it for the code and see what's up. Do you think there is any connection between the interior lights going out, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and the Check Enginer Soon light coming on along with hesitant starting?? Or are they totally unrelated? One thought crossed my mine is that maybe I didn't put one of the fuses back in the right slot?? Maybe that would cause the light to come on?? Any comments/suggestions are appreciated.

First off, welcome to NICO!!

With todays cars being so reliant on computers, it's certainly possible that they are related. Now there is a switch that selects whether the lights come on with the doors being open...

My gut tells me to check the battery and make sure that you don't have a bad or corroded connection. Clean the terminals and make sure the negative lead that attaches to the car is making a good connection.

Finally, simply disconnecting the negative will not necessarily remove trouble codes. You also have to pump the brakes several times to drain the ECU caps of residue voltage.

If this doesn't work, take it to a dealer and have them troubleshoot...the 03's are known to have faulty AC/radio circuit boards.
