I have a '98 QX4. When driving, turning, or anytime I hit a bump the interion lights flicker and the door open light flickers also. How do I check the door switches other that manually pushing them in. Is there one on the hatch? Any other ideas that may cause this?

Gently pry on the rear/bottom corner of each door to see which one is out of adjustment. Use a paint stick or something that won't damage the surface. Remove the screw for that particular switch and add a thin washer between the switch and body.

Welcome to Nico.

I had the same thing happen with my J, at first I tried adjusting the door switch but they are pretty cheap and replacing them is a simple matter of removing (and cleaning) one screw and carefully removing the connector (usually relatively brittle). I shimmed it and even added some foam to the door itself I had no plans of "adjusting" my door panel I like to keep my body as straight as I can.

Try Here the are <$10. Put your year and model in and search for "door jamb switch".

Thanks found that the right side passenger was the problem

I was also told another way to check is to unplug all of the door jam switches except the drivers side. Test drive, if the light does not flicker plug in another. Repeat until the light flickers and it will be the last one that was plugged in.

Takes too long and sometimes the plug can get "lost" inside the pillar or damaged. When you pry on the door watch the interior light. It will go on with the suspect door. Usually one of the fronts.

Hey. I had the same issue with my 2001 Infiniti Qx4. My passenger right door tricked my car into thinking it was not shut properly when taking hard left turns. My local mechanic suggested taping pennies to the car door at the point of contact. I did notice an improvement. However, I recently found out that the black door jamb switch is completely gone so my car assumes that door is Always shut. (open door light doesn't come on nor do the dome lights come on when the door is opened). I looked online and found the replacement part but was wondering a) where would you recommend buying this part b) is the switch for the driver side different than the other 3?. Thanks for the post and I would be glad to answer any questions with my personal experience.
