Has anyone ever ventured to recover the unsightly grey cloth interior panels by themselves. If so is it somewhat easily done? Cause I'm thinking of doing red faux suede and the black vinyl interior for something new. Especially if I could find a new driver door panel..

I have done it. You will need the tweed that's on there currently to use as stencils for the new material. It's not very easy and you need to be careful to use proper adhesives and cover the entire area otherwise you will get sag almost immediately. You could also get the interior trim set from interior innovations which would save you some of the headache.

I've been interested in redoing my interior too. Was amazed how cheap some of those interior kits are.

What is the proper adhesive to use? Would hate to do all that work and then have it fail.

When I did the headliner in my jaguar I used loctite spray adhesive high performance middle weight bonding (200) it held pretty good considering it was 100 out and in the sun so the inside of the steel box was hotter. But. I'd try the next one up just to be safe, and if you have a wife/girlfriend or know someone who is good with cloth call upon them to help just so you have a lil more experienced hands with you.

I'd be on redoing mine if I had new driver door panel, previous owners weren't very nice to door panel or driver seat

Has one ever added heated seats or a heated steering wheel??? Since the car is a yearly daily figured why not give her the "cold weather package" lol headed seats headed wheel if It can be done, and eventually find that damn mode door actuator so I can get ALL of my vents working again. It would be perfect.

I found a mode door operator at a junk yard. I think that is probably your best hope. I asked a couple guys parting out their Z's on the classified section, but never got any response. I think because it is "in the dash" people don't want to mess with it. But it really is easy to get out and replace. Good luck with it. I know I was a happy camper when I first saw it move!

You can definitely move it by hand, as mine was stuck on panel and I flipped it to defrost until I fixed it right. I'm sure something could be rigged up to move it remotely.
