I am looking to redo all of the interior on my 98 240.

I am going to go with black carpet from stockinteriors.com and after that is where the real questions begin.

After looking at dash options I have my heart set on leather wrapping my dash, door panels, rear side panels, and center console. I am going to make a rubber insert for the "cup holders" and the console box. Now the plastics I am having a tough time with. I am thinking of a metallic color (gunmetal) for the ventilatiors, radio bezel, shift boot trim, door pocket trim, door handles and trim, etc.

I don't know what to do with the headliner, pillars, visors, deck lid, or seats though. I know I am going to reupholster the stock s14 seats but I don't know if cloth is going to be out of place with the leather dash and console.

What do you guys think?

From what I have pictured in my mind, this won't look good, but to each their own. Look up some custom 240 interior and get ideas. I like the new black carpet idea and reupholstering the seats. Be careful with what you do with the dash and the panels. It could turn out real ugly.

I have seen a lot of "redone" interiors. Most of them are too race car, some are a little too bland, and there are a few that are really amazing. I have seen "flocked" dashboards and I think they are disgusting I'm not sure I can tolerate a tennis ball interior. I have seen suede and I like it but it would be an incredible pain in the A with fading and cleaning. Vinyl will probably end up cracking in the Florida sun. Lastly, I have seen carbon fiber and I can't imagine the amount of glare. That's why I am looking at leather.

I have seen a few leather done cars and I am still iffy on it.

I think it looks pretty good.

What about the plastics though? I don't know what to do with them :/

In that picture, it looks like he left the plastics alone and only rewrapped the vinyl areas.

If the plastics look good, I wouldn't touch them. I don't care much for repainted or wrapped plastic trim (but hey, its your car).

the leather wrapping is cool. I'm not a fan of painting or wrapping the plastics though. Sounds tacky.
