I didn't think much of it when I came across that "Your Versa is trying to kill you" website where it lists the Versa as #1 on the list of cars with the worst chemicals, that is, until now. I noticed a small hole in my seat the other day, which upset me because I'm trying to keep this car as new as possible. To keep the hole from spreading I decided to put a spot of super glue on top of it. I figured what the hell, I don't have a sewing kit and it'll seal it up and dry clear, no problem. It's in an area where it won't be noticed anyway. I spread it around with my finger and right away I feel a burning sensation. Next thing I know, there's smoke rising from that hole. Whatever chemicals they covered the interior with had a reaction with the super glue. I freaked, thinking there may be some smolderin down in my seat now. All was good though, and that's the last time I'm ever doing that again.

So that got me thinking, just what am I touching and breathing in everyday? I still have that new car smell despite it being 6 months old. Come to find out, that smell is actually the chemicals out-gassing. Normally I don't think about stuff like this with cars that I buy, but this one just made me go "hmmmm..."

While I've never had that problem in any new car I do get a white film on the inside glass from the interior. It's annoying.

If you garage your car, you could leave the windows rolled down and the interior chemicals will get aired out that way.

That would mean the wifes yard sale crap, which is taking up garage space, would have to be sold by having a <gasp> yard sale.

Yes it may be harmful to your body but I just love that new car scent. Just can't get enough of it.

I hate that film that gets on the inside of the windows. After trying a multitude of products on the windows I have found that Safeway private label multi-surface cleaner (sold in trigger bottles in the household aisle alongside the Windex) works the best, especially when combined with using one of those microfiber cloths. I find it works better than anything offered over the years at Pep Boys or Auto Zone.

I can't believe this thing is still coming up...

One day someone will commend me for this with a title... *hinthinthint*

and that title will probably be geek or nerd.
