Interior Ambient Lighting

Hello All, I just picked up a 2008 M45 Sport and have a question that I couldn't find answer to on this forum. The divers window and lock switches are given some ambient illumination by a small lamp hidden in the door handle trim. I noticed that the passenger side isn't illuminating, do I have a burned out bulb, or does the passenger side not have that light? Has anyone successfully replaced those bulbs? I have not been able to find any mention of it in the forums or owners manual.

As far as I remember, the passenger side doesn't have said light. My old 07 was the same way. The 2011+ doesn't have a light in either door.

Interesting that they removed it in the 2011+, I like the light. I could have sworn that the passenger side was illuminated during the very brief time I rode in the passenger seat in this car. That was the day I bought it though and I was experiencing the interior at night for the first time, very possible I am remembering it incorrectly.

There are only 2 of those lights. One on the drivers door and the other is on the roof near sun roof button, it shines down on center console. Have no idea how to replace...

I actually asked my shop the same question. It's because these cars are made in both Left- and Right- hand drive in Japan for export all over the world. The vehicles only illuminate the buttons on the driver side for each configuration. The passenger side stays dark...

I wonder if i could find a JDM spec door handle and light up the passenger side...probably more work then it's worth.

The hardest part would be sourcing the appropriate passenger-centric door panel and light. Otherwise, the wiring could be tapped into any of the many circuits that are hot when the car is on.
