It's three little lights that fit underneath the dash and illuminate downward towards the carpet. There's one on the driver's side, and two on the passenger side. They kind of "glow" similar to the tiny light from the overhead that illuminates the console at night. Not bright (but not supposed to be). Very cool!
I've tried to order the "illuminated kickplates" but no go so far in the parts department as they don't show it out yet (brochure said late availability). Installation was $240 which is far more than the cost of the item, but reflects the fact that they have to take the side of the dash panel out, thread the cable through the center console to the other side, mount it and connect it to the electrical system.
ThanksNorm
I have installed the lights there are two,one for the passenger and driver foot wells. They come on when the exterior lights are on not when opening the door.Took about 2 hours to do the job, mainly because it was a little cold working but the disassembly and assembly of lower dash took sometime,I hope that helps.
