Theres this nice 300ZX around town. Its white, twin turbo, maybe changed to the popular single turbo setup. The liscense plate reads " FRCFEDZ" force fed z. It supposedly runs 12's. I have Intake exhaust and some suspension goodies.BUTthis is the condition: He shifts1ST3RD5THin a quarter mile, i think as soon as the rpms are high enough in 3rd hes gonna OWN my ***!!!what do you all think, its not like im placing money down, just gonna be really humiliated

ok. I am not z32 gearing genius, but wouldn't him taking it past redline (oh gosh golly darn...redline) and putting it to 3rd just put him at the beggining of the power band. Answer: more than likely.

Sorry. But it doesn't look bright.

When did they start making single turbo Z32 kits? Given the lack of room for even two decently sized turbos, how could anyone make decent power with one turbo that there is barely enough room for. Not to mention the crossover that would be necessary to make it work well.

It can be done. The Z31 used a single turbo on a V6. But given the lack of space if you were to try and maximize efficiency and airflow through the turbo, you'ld want a big single turbo. Which will not fit where the turbos normally sit. Two smaller turbos will give a similar effect as one big one. Otherwise, one small turbo to boost for the wgole motor would probably worse than the factory system.

Single turbo has been done on Z32s...Someone posted a link a long time ago on this site...However single turbos are by NO MEANS popular...I don't know what your talking about. They are not popular because of everything C-Kwik said.

Oh yeah, even using 3 gears you'll still lose.

What is the stock rear end gearing on a Z32? If he had really tall gears back there then going 1-3-5 might actually make him faster than if he used all the gears.

Also, I've been told, but never confirmed that there is a JDM engine called the VG30DET. A single turbo version of our VG30DETT.

I believe the VG30DET was in the Gloria/Cedric here in japan. Not positive but I'm 99% sure they exist

just had to post on this

the z will own. If he is running 12's look for a 14 out of it.

my sr runs mid 13's through all the gears and mid 14's 1-2-3-5. I kill the unknowing civics at the track like this when they challenge me.

thrid gear is where he is going to pull away and coast home in 5th.

If you wanna make a good race of it make him shift 1-2 4-5 then its alot more gear between 2-4 than 1-3.
