My 87 nissan has been having a very interesting noice coming from the front left tire.. when driving its kinda like a squeal but when parking lot speeds occur it squeaks.. and it gets really bad when braking.. so im going to assume brake pads? Dont kill me for this, but in researching all my maintanence records my dad had for the truck from 87 to now.. not one shows anything about the front brakes being serviced... so what all should i replace and with what?!? thanks! =)

I would do pads, rotors, and clean everything really good. also clean and lube the slides. every one says that tose tend to stick and to be cleand and lubed about once or twice a year.

Sounds like your warning squealers are trying to tell you something.

I have heard of Wagner. Let us know what you think of them. Semi-Metallic is better than ceramic IMO and should provide you with ample stopping power.

Wagner is not bad, probably better than stock. Used them on some American iron with no ill effects. Do you tow with the truck?

I always try to " bed " the new brakes by making about 4 hard stops from around 60 mph close together. On the third or fourth stop you will feel some fade and may even smell the brakes. This will help the brakes perform better and last longer. Get moving quickly after the panic stops so the heat wont warp the rotors.

I do a series of harder 50-30mph stops making my way up to 60-10mph stops, never coming to a full stop for at least 10 miles. Helps to live out in the country. Don't lock the wheels up as this will overheat the pads and ruin them.

yah... i noticed my brakes got really weird after some doosh pulled in front of me and then decided to brake super hard.. so i slammed on the brakes as a natural reaction and they locked up... so i let go and swerved off the road and went aaround a 3 car pile up xD... i was also listening to Hang on loosly by 38 special when all this was happening lol.. gotta love the all terrains haha
