So I was on my way to the gym, I didnt do anything stupid, just parked normaly. As I come out of my car, this guy comes and asks what year is it? I tell him it's a 95, so he starts asking what do I have in there, I tell him not much few things here and there im saving my money for the swap. (THIS IS A CLASSIC) So he goes let me guess a "VTEC" i paused for a few seconds and say huhhhhh? After that I knew i wouldnt be able to have a normal conversation with him. Especially after he saw my 300zx brakes and said I have the same ones in my 11 second Camera, and then tells me why do i need such big brakes for a low horse power car. And why do i need a big exhaust, I didnt bother answering him, I told him i had to go.

What a dumb american muscle brain idiot. I hate when people with no knowledge of imports start talking about cars.

Next time you see him, if you happen to, ask him if he wants to go hit the twisty's. That should be a humbling experience, unless of course he's done some major modification to the suspension.

pft... silly bone-head vtecs are for hondas. :P

Well ya gotta see things from outside just your PoV too. Beyond the ricer world (us), no one likes fartcans or thinks they look or sound good--they just find them annoying. (That also happens to be my opinion but I'm not gunna bash anyone.)

As for the brakes, you probably don't need those either unless you road race/auto-x regularly but they do like nice so it's completely understandable because I have the same brakes, just not installed. =\

Why would being able to stop faster be only for the track?

You can stop plenty quick with the stock brakes aslong as they're in good condition. The big advantage to 300ZX brakes is their larger size, thus ability to take more abuse and heat over an extended period of time as well as more braking power--but that power will make you lock up faster. I guess people think that'll make you stop so much faster too. Get good pads and learn how to work non ABS brakes and you can stop on a dime unless you've been beating on them. (which you shouldn't be if you're on the street)

my dad is an old car guy. today, he was helping me get my turbo out. I think he was helping me out because he knows I think he doesn't like my car. Anyways, he learned today that my car was RWD.

He's a muscle car man, so in his mind, all imports will be slow. But I'm slowly teaching him that my 240 is just as fast as his Mustang GT, if not a slight bit faster.

Show him some videos of some high horsepower Supras, Skylines, etc.

You can't tell me anyone thinks this is slow. That think looked like it had a solid rocket booster strapped to it.

let's put it this way. I was unbolting the mani, and made the comment that RWD engines are easier to work on. he said "this is RWD? I guess it is mounted in the right direction..."

In his mind, nothing will ever be faster than an old Mustang 302 Boss. I show him a video like that and he'll just say "that's fast" and then walk away.

Find him a 1000hp Supra to take a ride in. ;) The Boss 302 is definitely a cool car, but it made somewhere around 290hp/300 lb ft of torque in a 3200lb car.

A 3500lb Supra with 1000hp is just insane...hmmm, where can I get one of those?

True enough, but I've never heard of a 1000hp modded 302. I've seen dyno sheets from more than a few 1000hp 2jz's. The point was, an import can easily be *very* fast.

Don't get me wrong, I like american muscle. The AAR Cuda and the Plymouth Superbird are two of my favorite cars ever.

i'm not saying i agree with him. i really want to line his GT up to my car and finally put a few things to rest.

As far as old cars go, I will always be a Ford fan. Give me a '67 Shelby GT350 any day of the week.

I hate the domestic losers that talk crap about foreign cars, just because they are to stupid to read and find out about imports. I know, I use to sort of be one myself.

tenkawa_akito, I have that dyno video of the 860 hp Supra on my puter at teh house. SHow him that and he'll shut up about your import.
