Dont know if its been done, but how cool would that be to use the VTEC technology on a KA24DE block? It should be quite possible, correct?

For what reason is it stupid? It would improve the N/A motor, would it not?

Good fvcking luck matching a little Honda head to a Nissan block. For the money and effort it would take, why not just invent the warp engines from Star Trek? It wouldn't have that "awesome" sound when Vtec "kicks in, y0", but it'd be faster. ;)

Toyota/Lexus has it too, yeah yeah, we all should know. I personally don't think the design would be worth the cost of getting a Honda head to fit one of your blocks. If it was a good idea, I'm sure someone would have done it by now. Just get a turbo and be done; you can always get bigger turbo's.

I kinda feel bad about my first post but it just isn't a good idea unfortunately. Yes, it would be nice if our truck motors had VVT but seeing as they don't, I prefer to think of cost effectiveness as my goal. (Aswell as many others) Sure, it would be unique and interesting but ultimately pointless, sadly.Want VVT that isn't Honda? Get a new SE-R and build that engine and take it beyond what everyone else has and thinks is possible. That's more rational, relatively trail-blazing and "cooler."Coming up with and having ideas is always good, just know that not all of the ideas are always good themselves, and rarely come to fruition.

I believe all black top SR20s have VVT, which is that little hump on the valve cover, giving them the nickname "Notchback."Better ask a real SR20 guy though...

RB25s also have "VVTC." Later Neo ones have "CVVTC", continuous variable valve timing control. No difference in engines at all except the Neo ones have a horrible engine condom on them. =\

Yeah, but I was thinking for a KA, since they have higher torque, and should have more potential for going all motor, with a VVT system + lots of mods, that would have potential, in my opinion.

KAs have potential as it is but if you want VVT that much, get a later NA SR20 from a Silvia J or Q series. ;)

Was mainly curious how much of an effect it would have, I love my KA, dont get me wrong, but it needs more, and I dont know if i wanna resort to turbo

If you wanna go NA, SeVA suggested a nice way to do it. The KA tops out at about 250hp all motor...and thats puttin some money into it. You could have a decent turbo for that price, trust me.

Well then you're probably going to have a problem if you want more poer but don't like forced induction. Attempting to mate a VVT style head to a KA block is just impractical. You could import an NA SR20 but that'd be a waste of money because soon you'll want more and more power. That is where turbo motors are the greatest invention of all time. Don't have enough power for ya? Up the boost or get a bigger hairdyrer. We all want more power and most people have come to the conclusion that turbo is the most cost-effective way to go about this.Plus, BOVs give chicks orgasms. ;)

lol, I know, BOVs are effing awsome, but for the roads I drive in my 240, I wonder if the turbo will be very effective. I honestly havnt driven a turbo car on a really tight windy road :(

Most stock Turbo engines spool ridiculously low.The T25 is a freaking tiny little thing but for those who want low end delivery, not a freaking T-88 Supra, the stock turbine or maybe even a T3 equivalent is fantastic. Plus, with new bearing technology, you can have a quick spooling turbo that has a nice efficiency island, if you've got the $$$. ;)

Really no engine swap in your car is legal unless it's from the exact same car (240SX) from either the same year or newer. If you actually got an FJ, you'd be my hero. :)
