As almost none of you know, I just picked up a 1990 240 Fastback the day before yesterday after about 3 months of searching. The car is in pretty good condition for it's age and all of the accessories work except for the window washers and the passenger side outside door lock. Anyway I noticed that it has a couple of interesting "Features"...

Feature 1: Space HeaterThat's right folks, my center consol aparently mated with a furnace and combined to form a bastard child space heater. The center consol gets hot to the touch, not burn me hot, but a nice toasty hot. It actually feels pretty good since it is like 40* here. Is this a bad thing, or a normal issue?

Feature 2: Stealth ODO and Trippy MeterI figured out why the mileage was exempt on the title, the Odometer and trip meter only work some of the time. I don't know the actual percentage, but I know that it didn't work for at least 50 or so miles while I was driving it, and then it randomly started working again. How in the flying poopy do I fix this little problem? I don't really care if the ODO is wrong, but the gas gauge also doesn't work so I need to know how far I have gone since I last filled up by looking at the mileage on the trip meter.

Any Ideas?

Other than these few things, the car totally rocks. No more automatic FWD cars for me!

LOL, thanks K :)

are you saying that problem number 1 is not normal or that it is not a bad thing?

I will check out the FAQ on the ODO thing

I don't fix my gas gauge because I have only had the car for three days now and I haven't looked into the issue. It fills up and reads correctly until half a tank, then it just sits there...

K, I searched for "odometer" and found lots of posts, but everyone keeps saying that it is covered in the faq, but I can't find it in the faq. Maybe you could give a bit of assistance in the matter? it would be much appreciated.

As for the heat thing, it must just be an intermittant problem because it was only hot the first day that I had it for about the first 60 or so miles I drove around. Yesterday and today driving it around it has not heated up. Maybe that has something to do with why my odo suddenly stopped working?
