A lot of tuning shops in Japan will replace the cover with their personal cover.

you're missing the point. the dude in canada uses a picture of the transmission off the japanese auction and posted as if was his own. i would never trust anyone with that few feedback.

Autech is a reputable Company. They are the ones that made the GTR 400R's anyways, the auction itself looks really fishy, however, I bought an ATI Damper Pulley from Yahoo Japan Auctions and RB motoring was the seller, so you will never know.

He also requires payment by bankdraft, money order, or bank transfer (wire). In other words... no payment methods that would afford any recourse to the buyer if no item is shipped.

I would stay far far away from that... unless I lived in Vancouver/Richmond, etc... and could pick it up in person.

yeah, that would definitely have to be a pick up item. But you have to watch out about that too. If you have a check or cash for that amount and he was a scammer, you can easily be robbed.

$1800 to a guy with 2 feedback who wants payment in a manner that would make it difficult for your to recover it? This one doesn't take a rocket scientist...

On a side note, NISMO are responsible for the R33 400R's (and the S14 270R's, for that matter). Autech, if I'm not mistaken, is another wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan. They are responsible for the S13 and S15 Silvia convertibles, as well as the R34 GT-R 4 door, among other things (the Autech Stagea comes to mind, which is basically a GT-R wagon).

Replies to these emails are always interesting ... and usually involve some story about the item for auction being in Greece or some far off land. If you get that, reply back and say GREAT my uncle lives there, when can he look at it?

i know that many e-bayers buy stuff from the jap auctions, and sell them on ebay, and i have seen a few that sell them before they win the jap auction... i once talked with a guy that was selling something from the jap auctions, and i've found out that he was from tokyo and was making a living out of selling the jap parts on e-bay and getting commissions.

You are right, I was a little off, they did do a 4 door R34 and some modified Skyline stuff. But the 400R was Nismo.

I think a real legit seller would not be selling that amount of nice goods with a starting price of $1,700 with out a reserve, or with no feedback history to make a buyer feel safe.

I'll bet my left gonad that is a scam....

On that pic in the japan auction it has rb20 gts in caption for auction but the pic is of a rb25 trans is it not. People are just strange now a days.

You don't trust anything from Canada???? Lots of reputable people I know and have also dealt with. Depends who it is, just like in the states. On the contrary, with larger population, the states would have more scamers than Canada

LOL

Yeah... every single person in Canada is a thief and a cheat!

Actually, I think you are correct.. There are certainly more criminals and dishonest people in the US than in Can. Probably by an even higher ratio per person as well.

His statement was clearly a little too broad. But, the fact is that we have all heard entirely too many reports of people getting ripped off by engine resellers out of the Vancouver and Montreal areas. I have personally talked to three different people who were expecting a pretty great deal, and in the end got nothing but an empty checking account. It's always a bit scary to buy an engine sight unseen... but moreso when you buy it across borders where you lose any protection that the legal system or credit cards or banks would afford you within your own borders.

This is why many people will say, "Never buy an engine from Canada".

Matt, don't take it personally. I love my Canadian Brothers!!! Heck, I have relatives up north of you (Peace River, Alberta). But, I still wouldn't buy an engine from someone in Canada through Ebay. I would have go there to pick it up in person.

I did one better... I sent him a email telling him what a POS he is and to get a job and stop trying to rip people off.... He didn't reply..

This past summer I uncoverd many RB26 motorset scams on ebay. I won a few auctions and when it came time to pay I told them I would be there to pick the motor up. They would go into say the motor is in there warehouse and is already setup for shipping. My best advice to anyone is not to buy a motor you can't pickup in person. Even if you can't really make it there just say you will to see what thier responce is.
