Here is a pretty nifty Topper:

It's a cross between a topper & a Pop-Up camper. Google "Wildernest" or "Flip-Pac".

The guy is currently selling, and it would be awefull if he ended up trashing it rather than someone else putting it to good use.

Yeah, and it would seem relatively easy to modify it further.

You could put racks on it & carry all kinds of gear. Work with it during the week(haul lumber/ladders etc), play with it on the weekend (kayaks/bikes etc).

I can't (easily) put racks on a Flippac. And even if I do, it'd have to be unloaded every time you want to set-up camp.
