I've played Bioshock. I've owned it since it came out. But I didn't like it much. At least, not until recently.

When I first bought it, I had a crappy GeForce 6800 GT that wasn't worth it's weight in feces. Bioshock did not like this card (nor did much else). The game was unplayable even at low graphics settings, I set it aside. Then later I bought the 360 version. I didn't like it. Control was clunky, hacking was awkward, and the combination of crap controls and big daddy's immobilizing attacks frustrated me to the point that I just stopped playing.

Then last week I found the PC version under a pile of magazines. I was about to toss it aside again, but then realized with a videocard made by a company that doesn't suck now in my PC (Radeon HD 2600XT) it might be playable now. I installed it, watched as this card that's only marginally better than my 6800 on paper took the game from unplayable to beautiful and smooth. Stupid Nvidia.

Anyway, playing through the game with a keyboard and mouse has made ALL the difference. Hacking is no longer awkward. Controls are fluid and smooth. The game is a lot of fun now. I feel really bad for the people who are stuck playing the console version. It really doesn't compare. Not just because of control preferences, but because there's clearly a lack of fine-tuning on the console version.

So, in summary:--Nvidia sucks sweaty radioactive balls.--Consoles are still sadly getting the short end of the shooter stick.--Don't leave your games under stacks of crappy magazines if you ever want to see them again.

Oh also, another point I've made before comes to mind:Why, if the 360 has multiple USB ports and supports USB hubs, does it NOT support USB keyboards and mice as controller options?

Because $60 for a 360 controller is nicer on Microsoft's bottom line than your average computer keyboard not made by them

I don't know about that. The craptastic Intellisuck Exploder costs $40! Their keyboards run from $20 to $50. Hell, their wireless desktop packages with a good mouse and keyboard can cost almost $100.

Yea, but you have a choice to still go buy the $10 logitech keyboard too. Microsoft would rather have you forced into buying their crap that someone elses.

Plus, from a programming standpoint, it's a lot easier if all developers are required to use the same input device. Most games nowadays don't have the ability to change the control schemes (or you have 1 or 2 choices, but no total customization). Throwing the keyboard in would make things much harder, with the way that you could ultimately customize them.

Yeah, but if console developers had included mouse and keyboard (haha remember mario-paint? :P) coding to their products, I would have taken a second look. As it stands, a controller is plain inferior to the customization, control, and accuracy of a mouse and keyboard. Unless of course that controller is for a Wii, then it's a little different.

I actually thought Bioshock wasn't nearly enough like SS2. It felt like a pale imitation but really lacked most of the "flesh" of System Shock. It wasn't as interesting and definitely wasn't as scary. It was certainly a lot of fun, but System Shock 2 is in a whole different realm pretty much across the board. Character development was so much deeper and more complex in SS. System Shock 2's inventory was also...well SS2 had one and Bioshock doesn't.

Bioshock is definitely a lot like System Shock, but I was disappointed it wasn't a lot more like it. When you tout something as the spiritual successor of System Shock...Bioshock is not the result that one expects.
