well my friend and i can't agree on an the topic on whether or not you should put an intercooler on a supercharged car...he thinks it's not as important but i think it should be just as important on a turbo car as a supercharged car....anyone else have an opinion?

It can be even more important since the thermal efficiency of a SC is usually well below that of a turbo. Saleen uses a water-to-air intercooler sandwiched between the SC and the manifold plenum (as does Ford I believe). A compact an moderately efficient design. Makes my Mustang respond instantly but not suffer from heat loading.

vortex uses a water to air, they just recommend you fill it with ice water during races.

wouldn't you be changing the water with new ice water each since it heats up under the hood? I may be retarded but I don't understand but is the water to air like a radiator or is the water jacketing the the air supply and cooling it, like a ac condenser? This is probaly a simple concept i'm making difficult.

A water-to-air intercooler uses at least two heat exchangers. The intercooler itself where the water carries away the heat from the intake charge, and the radiator which takes heat away from the water.

An Air Conditioner works in a similar way but adds a very different concept to actively cool the air to lower than ambient. The compressor pushes air through the lines and into the condensor. On this side of the A/C, the freon is compressed which heats it up. The condensor cools this charge down like an intercooler. Then, it is released into the evaporator where the pressurized gas is also depressurized. This causes the freon to cool to below ambient temperatures. As it passes through the evaporator, it cools the air that goes into the car/house. Then it cycles back through the compressor and repeats the process.

Vortech makes something that they used to call an aftercooler now it's called a charge cooler I guess. Here's a link:
