I have been looking at a few companies, primarily HKS, Trust, and a'pex. Anyone have experience with these brands? Is any FMIC better than another one when it comes to these companies, or is it more of a personal preference type thing.

Anyone have any experience with a high quality front mount? How much boost are you running with the FMIC (I assume the block is stock)? I was planning on running 12psi w/ FMIC.

I'm sure everybody is happy with their fmic kits. Just be sure not to go too big because you'll only end up lagging your turbo.

So what's too big? Common size seems to be approx 12" x 24" x 3" Is this about as big as recommended?

you dont want something too big that you will have pressure drop....any kit would be efficient...but taking a ic from another car, like a diesel truck itsn always the wisest idea: ), and if your going high hp, the kit may not be enough, then you go custom or water to air IC...

Is the RSPL kit a 2 row intercooler? If it's not, I believe Greddy makes a 3 row kit that a bit larger. It will support A LOT of power but you may want to look into getting a larger radiator because since the size is larger, it may hurt air flow through the radiator.

the rspl and vspl are both 2 row...they are the same size the rspl just has redesigned fins for better cooling ability, its a better IC than the vspl....they do alos make a 3 row kit....expensive and a bit overkill for a bolt on setup, but better choice for going over 450-500hp imo....

That's what I thought....the 3-row is a great kit. Although it's not on a 240SX, I've had great success out of mine. If you have an S14, the make a 4-row kit too. I wouldn't suggest getting this particular intercooler because if really is overkill for almost any application you will be running.

i have a intercooler from a stock car....its about 5" thick, looks like two 2 row or 3 row intercoolers welded together with huge end tanks, its about 1" longer than the rspl greddy kit, and maybe 1" higher : )...its for sale if anyone wants it : )lol

you know, I hear if you have the largest intercooler physically possible for your car it will make some serious numbers. Kind of like the larger the exhaust tip the more power your car makes :)

lucky, i think you should get one of those LED exhaust tips for your project : ).....that and a NOS sticker, and you'll be all over Ari Yallon and his RX7 down there in the heart of texas : P

well now that you mention it...that does sound like a good idea. If I put enough neon lights and stickers on my car I should be able to beat Ari with a stock KA ;) But on a more serious note, I'm actually thinking about getting one of HKS's pretty new exhausts

edit: crap...looks like the picture is split up into frames...here's the link to the full picture...you've got to see it just for the humor value :) http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/exh ... candy.html

I was looking at a HKS R-Type FMIC? I am thinking the GT-Type would be a little bit too much for the horsepower I will be running. I am aiming at 300-400WHP. Depending if I am satisfied with 300WHP, or 350WHP, and so on.
