intercooler size

hey i was wondering if 32" from endtank to endtank would be to big for a 89 240sx? if it is whats the biggest size you recommend? As of now im looking at 32x6x3 is that okay? :confused:

please give advice since you guys usually know whats good and whats not. thanks:D

i want to ultimately have about 375-400whp, and the core size is 26"x8"x3", i dont want to buy one now and find out its not big enough....want to do it right the first time.

As long as it's a good core that should be big enough then. That's just a shade larger than what I have but I haven't gotten a chance to see how it works yet :(

the core of my intercooler measures 19.5" wide, without the endtanks.

it barely fits between the frame rails that extend beyond the rad. support.

i had to cut part of the rails out to actually get things to work.

extending the core another half a foot on each side would complicate things more, in my opinion.

In addition to that, such a long narroy intercooler is going to have a high pressure drop and less efficiency.

I wouldn't recommend it. Something like a 20x8x3 would be more sane. Or try following the dimensions of a brand name like Blitz: 23" x 10" x 2 1/2

With such a tall intercooler your going to have poor distribution to the top parts. It's not going to really hurt anything (besides flow to the radiator), it just doesn't really help either.

I was thinking about one of those on my s13, but decided to start small, and get the project off the ground.

is that a dsm smic by your right tire?

Nah, it's more about the inlet/outlet placement and endtank size.

okay guys thanks for everything, i ended up getting one that measures 22x8x3(core size) w/ 2.5" inlet/outlets. again thanks for all the help
