I'm just finishing up my RB25DET swap on my 93 240sx and.....im looking for a fmic piping kit. My buddy gave me the fmic but no piping My fmic is the type that has its hot pipe on the driver side and the cold pipe on the passenger side (therefore I have to relocate the battery/reduce in battery size). Now that you know what kind of fmic I have, I was wondering what is a good kit to buy and where? I have looked on ebay but from the looks of there universal intercooler piping kits I will be using a whole **** load of connectors. Any suggestions would be mush appreciated.

-thanks

Honestly, I purchased the 'R33 Intercooler Kit' from XS-Power. It fit very well, but you need one additional piece that is not included.

(I can only assume the logic behind this is that they assume that you already have an R33 and are converting from SMIC to FMIC, therefore you would have all of the original piping.)

I believe that they sell the piping 'kit' (w/o FMIC), but cant recall. Everything fit well and I was able to retain the stock battery and location! I know that some people had complained about the thickness of the pipes, and mine were plenty thick. I suppose it is 'luck of the draw'. :-\

Also, this was a 25 into a 93 as well! HTH!

Most of those eBay companies use super thin wall aluminum, and when you use T-clamps and run high boost, over tightening the T-clamps too much can bend the piping. What I did was order up some 2.5in exhaust piping from the auto parts warehouse, and also bought some 90 deg. bends. Then went over to Extreme PSI and picked up some couplers and T-clamps. It all cost me under $100, and its strong as hell, although it is a bit heavier but its a negligible amount. Heres a pic, oh and I painted it gold.

in regards to the cheap ebay piping thats def true - but the company CXracing, CX motorsports, or Just Intercoolers - they are ll the same place i believe - anyway i got piping and my intercooler from them - its 1/8" wall pipe and seems to be very good quality. also they have auctions for getting like 6 bends of your choice and 6 couplers of choice and the clamps - then you can add more bends and couplers to for additional cost - idk if this is helful at all but thats what i did and was happy

oh and it comes with the nice T-bolt clamps

Cheap EBAY pipping FTL.

Bends under tight clamps. The tbolt clamps that you find for cheap are just that.

As well. My buddy runs 38psi to 42psi in his Talon and his intercooler pipping was some cheesy stuff, (not as cheesy as the ebay pipes) but we pressure tested the system at 60psi and those pipes started to make noises like they wanted to explode.

Not saying your going to run 40psi but its nice to know you can :D

I hate EVERYTHING about the ebay intercooler kits they offer. Its cheap for a reason. I can't wait to get rid of mine and get REAL QUALITY pipings. The intercooler is okay but I just might get a Greddy one for $300 they offer.

Jesus, I can imagine what his fuel pressure is like under boost

I built mine from steel exhaust tubing, and my complaint is surface rust. The insides of the pipe are now surface rusted. Treat them with rust bullet or something if you go that route.

Same here on the ebay pipes, the couplers get super heat soaked it's all just plain crap IMO.And I have one of their kits now.

I'm getting some bends from summit racing and having them welded up.

i'm currently running a one sided ebay core with custom piping and it seems to work well. piping runs just like the factory smic piping, all going to one side of the engine bay so i retain factory battery location and keep my piping nice an short. i think i might upgrade to this though in the future and get rid of this crapo ebay core: http://www.full-race.com/catal...54815

however i suppose if your friend gave you a core already just get custom piping made that goes across the engine bay like a few people above me have said.

Good people, slow shipping.

Thought i would bump this up as i had the same question

there are 1.5mm 1.8mm and then cxracing has 2.0mm piping and a couple 3.0mm

Anyone have good or bad stories from a company like cxracing?

Im thinking intercooler im going to order a nice one, and got a deal on Samco couplers, but the piping, do you really gotta spend **** loads for a DIY theory kit..?

I have bought 2 piping kits from CXRacing and i have not been able to crush them with the t-bolt clamps that the kits come with, have not had any problems with blowing piping apart at the couplers, no boost leaks, and it is solid pipe that you can weld - as long as you can weld aluminum. I feel that the quality of the pipe, couplers, and clamps is equal to any brand name pipe, clamp, or coupler and i will continue to buy all of my piping needs from CXRacing - also my intercooler is from them and so far i have not had any problems with it -

thats just my opinion

i have an ebay ic and piping set. its thick and doesnt crush either. i just think a lot of people are real sceptical when it comes to buying stuff off of ebay. dont get me wrong though, there is a lot of crap on there but its not nearly as bad as half the people on this forum make it out to be.

on another note, there are reputable places that have s13 i/c piping kits. mckinney, rb-performance, syko just to name a few. but personally i dont know about on any of their quality on piping. never seen it.

i bought my intercooler kit from them way back in the day. Same as the ebay kit. They just had hiprollc stamped on the top of the intercooler. I also got a bad *** oil pressure adapter from them. It had 3 ports for oil temp, oil pres, and the stock oil press in bspt and npt. Good ship time. This was back in 2006!

I got my piping/intercooler from CX racing and just intercoolers on ebay. Piping looks good, holds my almost 30psi of boost, and is to thick to crush unless you want to use a hammer or something. The couplers they included were better than the turbonetics ones I got from Summit. Only thing I didn't like was the T-bolt clamps, but I don't like them in general. I have a tendency to tighten the piss out of everything, and I broke several of the clamps doing that. Never dented the piping though.

I say order the piping from one of the above mentioned places for less than $100, and screw that $300 greddy crap made in the same factory by the same 12 years old chinese kids for $.03 a day.

i bought my cxracing intercooler kit setup for the greddy intake awhile back for 299.00 shipped off of ebay. the kit was for a s14 240sx and it nearly fit perfect into my 300zx without much modifiations to the kit. the wall of the pipe seemed pretty thick and i tightened the suppied tbolt clamps all the way tight and could not squish the pipe. It is a pretty decent kit imho. I would buy another kit in the future from them if i ever decide to do another build.

I got my alum. Pipe kit from Syko Performance, its amazing! Drop in, tink walled pipe. four piecies and he will send all couplers with the kit. (no clamps) 250.00 shipped is what i paid. Only other thing is you need a Greddy Intake Manifold. its 2.5" hot side and 2.75" cold side

My pipes have been fine since I installed them almost a year ago. I also pressure tested them to 25 lbs. no leaks. I think a lot of the resentment for the kits are from Internet rumors, or a few people who had bad luck.
