HelloI'm planning on doing an RB25DET swap for my 1992 240SX, and I just have a question about intercoolers. I have searched, but I couldn't find anything that was applicable.

Will an SR20DET intercooler kit work for an RB25? More specifically the HKS intercooler kit.

I've heard that would just need to modify the cold pipe. If that's all, how hard would that be?

Or if this is just a completely lame f*** around (a waste of time), what do you all suggest? R32 stock FMIC?

Thanks.

im pretty sure the stock rb cold pipe goes over the motor, just because how the manifold and throttle are positioned so sometimes the rb guys use IC's with same sided inlet/outlet and route both hot and coldpipes through driver side (usdm). or you can rig something up but i dont think a sr20 fmic kit would work without a bit of modification just by looking at positions of the turbo and throttle on both motors. and keep those clamps on garden hoses, get some t bolt clamps. your best bet is probably getting a core and peicing stuff together, get a shop or yourself to weld up the pipes.

No... the RB and SR stock designs are totally different. For the RB, hot and cold side pipes return on the driver side as compared to the SR with cold returning to throttle body on passenger side. You need to purchase a complete kit for the RB; one designed with the cold side pipe that fits through the passenger side frame rail (instead of the SR style up through the battery), that comes up and crosses above the fan, adjacent to the radiator, and returns to the stock intake piping. Hybrid sells them or contact High Pro at http://www.hiprollc.com. Quality of the Hybrid kit is top notch!

Make sure it is a bar & plate type of intercooler. They have better thermal efficiency.

Never had a side mount - put the front mount on when the engine went in. Basic mods... 3" cat back, 3" downpipe, stock turbo and injectors but tuned ECU (came with clip), front mount, pop charger intake. Best quarter mile time of 13.1 with street tires - have since upgraded clutch, installed lightened flywheel, and bought drag radials but haven't made it back to the track. Next trip... expecting a 12.7 or better with me driving (my son did the 13.1)!
