I recently bought a spearco bar and plate intercooler... it was sort of an impulse buy because it was rather cheap, i didn't want to be stuck w/ a sidemount and i happened to have the money to buy it.. and i usually don't have money so i was all happy. Anyway, how do the spearco bar and plate intercoolers rate against others? I tried doing some searches in google but i really couldn't come up with much, hell, i couldn't come up with much information on the bar and plate concept alone. Maybe i'm using the wrong keywords in my search... anway. Could someone help me out? Was this a bad buy or what?

good choice going with spearco, very well made and very well priced. i am looking for a good core to make a top-mount intercooler to keep my setup kinda stealthy. i think i am gonna make some ducting from the bumper opening up to the engine bay to direct more air. let me know if you know of any good cores to use.

thanks -ian

bar and plate IC's are more effeicent then tube and fin IC's, but i believe they heat soak faster. the apexi kit is bar and plate, i think it was probably a good buy, i wouldnt mind tryin one out over my greddy tube and fin core

it doesn't make sense to me how it can cool the air charge more effeciently but at the same time become heat soaked quicker. Oh well, i guess i'll see how it works.

Where did u get your core from? I got a spearco core from that "boostcoolers" guy on ebay for about 350. What are u going to do about piping and fitment? I was thinking of just getting some aluminum plumbing and having a shop fab some stuff up.
