you go by the engine. As it is much easier to modify the brackets on the intercooler to fit your body then to modify the piping.

If you compare S14 and S13 IC piping, you will notice that the way the pipe gets routed to the throttle body is drastically different. Also, if you do get a kit that comes with a hot pipe, that is also angled differently depending on the engine.

So in short, get a S13 IC kit and modify the core to fit the body.

Ideally, you would want to get a core made for S14 and piping made for S13 SRs but Ive yet to see a kit with such combination.

thanks for the reply..that makes sense..if i can get a company to mix me a s14 IC with s13 ic pipes i would be good to go? but if i decide to go with a s13 ic kit then my only problem will be mounting the ic to the front?

you are correct.

I know that some IC kits share a same core for both kits just comes with different brackets.

Make sure you ask exactly what the IC core difference is between their S13 and S14 kit

ebay intercoolers are comparable to Greddy M-Spec. The fin design is very similar along with the design of the core it self.

I was running a Greddy VSPL Intercooler until a bracket rubbed in it and punctured a hole. Next, I went with a Ebay Intercooler, which bolted up with no problem. I couldnt resist the price. It was $200 shipped for the Core, piping, couplers, t-bolt clamps. VERY VERY cheap.

The piping that comes with the IC feels like its made out of soda can... but the IC it self looks and works fine.
