Take your friends advice. The SR kit is not going to work 100% and that FMIC that is priced at 249.99$ is about 125$ more than it's worth. That intercooler is a 10x24x3 and you can get one off of ebay that is bigger and cheaper. As for piping, just get a shop to custom fab some up for you, it should cost about 300ish for custom piping.

Do you have a stock IM or GReddy (front facing) plenum?

I don't think an SR intercooler would line up with the stock intake manifold....

I hadn't looked at the kits until now.
No, an SR kit won't directly fit an RB. The better option is to get a better quality charge cooler (FMIC) (it doesn't need to be huge unless you want bling, or have something to prove). And by quality, I don't mean name brand - quality materials, designs, cores, etc. The company that I prefer does everything 100% custom, in their shop in Alabama, with certified welders - not slave labour 'overseas'. and they are _extremely_ reasonable - $2-300 for a large, _extruded_ core with tanks (depending on design and core).

A decent sized charge cooler, and have a shop fab your piping and your golden.

ok ya i mean I can get cusom pipes welded. I just wondering what makes one intercooler better then another. Also how do you measure the sizing what does it in fact do?

boosted,

Sorry bro, I had a nice reply typed up, but apparently didn't send it. :-/

My (Huge) core is roughly ~ 23.5" x 12" x 3". I would suggest something shorter like 10.5" tall at most.

Use these designs from Spearco for rough dimensions.

You will have to decide how you want your placement of the end tanks (equilateral / centered, or offset). Keep your connections at 2.5" OD max.

I think something along the lines of the Spearco 5-312
- Core Dimension
3.50'' thick x 7.9'' tall x 24.0'' wide
- Hose Connection – 2.5'' OD

The reason that I am suggesting all of this is because I went with one of the known 'kits' and had to rework every single piece. And my FMIC rubs the inside of my bumper on to AND bottom.. and I have it recessed about as far as I can get it without performing a lot of 're-working'.

opps sent you a another pm. So you suggesting that Spearco 5-312. Now what the difference between 2 outlets on one side then 1 outlet on 1 side and another one the other. I was reading it for the turbos.. Fianlly what piping should I use ? Should i go to a specfic comapny to get piping

Both of those charge coolers are overkill and will most likely give you additional pressure loss. I would strongly urge you to go with something smaller like the Spearco 5-312.You don't have to get the actual Spearco unit, just a smaller core, like it.

The difference with the inlet and outlet is for what type of intake manifold you are using. If you are using the stock manifold, and plan to keep it, go with the in and out on the same side, this will give you a lot less piping (more efficient) . If you have or plan to use a front facing plenum (GReddy / Freddy / ISIS, etc) then yo would want the 'traditional' style in / out on opposing sides.

You can use about anything for piping. I would suggest 2.5". Check with local exhaust shops about buying some lengths of pipe. I would go more for the 'aluminized' style if you can swing it.
