OK I recieved my Greddy R-SPL intercooler and it has an outlet for a hose on the drivers side pipe. Which is in the fenderling. I was guessing that it is a spot for the blow off valve but since I already have the bov attached to the hot pipe I wouldn't use the outlet in the fenderling. So I plan on plugging it up, unless you guys tell me that it actually goes somewhere.:D

it's for the recirculating valve... mine has it too. It's pretty lame that they expect you to have an FMIC and a stock recirc valve. whatever. anyway, take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it shut.

Check out http://www.phase2motortrend.com or enjukuracing.comYou can get the vspec for like 800, and the rspec for 899. Rspec will be able to support more boost and is recommended above 18psi i believe. If your on a budget you could always buy a spearco core, and have custom piping done. Could probably get a front mount done for 600 or so, with decent piping.

Hot pipe side is from turbo to intercooler. Cold pipe side is from intercooler to throttle body.

Here is that hole you were talking about. It's a pain to weld onto aluminum, so this is what they did, for a temporary fix. I'll have it fixed the right way later.

And the hotpipe comes out of your compressor housing and goes into your intercooler. coldpipe comes out of the intercooler and goes into your throttle body.

That is what I was talking about Buud. Hey what did you use the T fitting in the kit for. Does it go inbetween the actuator and the intercooler piping and the go to a Boost controller of what?

Ok Thanks guys, I thought that was the hot pipe. I assume then that the other is the cold pipe.

Thanks for the help guys. Have any of you guys tried custom piping with PVC pipes.....I heard the MK3 guys be doing it and wonder if any of you guys did it with the SR.

I dont know if that would work or not but it would look very stupid. the objective is to get as smooth bends as posible. with pvc you would be left with only 45 and 90 degree angles..... not good for air flow.

Ok well a T already came with my BOV kit, but I wonder why Greddy would include a BOV T in a intercooler kit. Whatever extra parts for me. Thanks Buud.:D

hehe you said PVC pipping !!! look at my pictures haha.. and yes its working and no. i havent driven it on a road like this !!! link in signature!! my greddy vspec also has that and its for a Ca so i have to have a custom hotpipe and then a custom intak pipes to the plenum to get the BOV in the optimum place!!Jon

Well, that T would also be needed with the stock recirculating valve, so it won't make that much of a difference. The T that came with your BOV probably won't be used with the SR20 application. It would probably be for a car that has an aftermarket turbo. They include it because the BOV is universal.

I have an s14 chassis and will be swapping to either an s13 or s14 SR20DET. Obviously if I get an s14 motor, I will get the s14 intercooler. But if I get an s13 motor, which intercooler should I buy? I have heard that both intercoolers need some modification with a hybrid swap, what are the problems with each and which is harder/more expensive? Where I am nobody can weld alminum or do mandrel bends unless I travel/send far away. Also, I have seen a Greddy intercooler with the BOV flange on the cold pipe, but I would like to use a different BOV, like HKS on the hot pipe. What should I do?

The S13 intercooler isn't hard to install into a S14 you just need to do some cutting with a sawsall. You can mount you blow off valve basically anywhere you want. I have my Blitz on my hotpipe, and the hotpipe attaches to the Greddy R-SPL intercooler. If you have the tools it isn't that bad.

why would you have the bov on the hot pipe? it needs to be on the cold pipe closest to the throtle body

It doesn't have to be anywhere. You can mount the BOV in various positions. A BOV is to save the turbo. Having it right next to the turbo on the hotpipe is a fine place. But it can me mounted anywhere on the IC piping. Keep it mind that is within reason. Don't mount it dircetly next to the turbo. But the BOV can be mounted on the hot side of the intercooler.
